2022年卡塔尔世界杯预选赛附加赛是由10支小组赛第2名和两个欧国联顺位靠前的球队所组合而成，他们都将向争夺最后的三个席位而发起冲击。
虽说附加赛的参赛队伍不少但最后能够登陆卡塔尔世界杯的球队只有3支，竞争力度还是非常的大。根据比赛规则，欧洲区附加赛赛阶段12支球队将遵循单场淘汰制规则，所有球队将按照每四支分为一组进行比赛，每组将只有1支获得出线资格。
2014世预赛欧洲区赛程
欧洲区53个国家和地区的球队参加角逐13个晋级名额。53支球队被分为9个小组，其中8个组包括6支队伍，1个小组包括5个球队。小组赛采取主客场双循环赛制，比赛从2012年9月7日至2013年10月15日进行，9个小组的头名直接晋级决赛圈，成绩最好的8个小组第二进行附加赛再抽签进行捉对厮杀，在2013年11月至19日进行主客场两回合较量以决定剩余4个名额。

1. 2022年卡塔尔世界杯预选赛欧洲区的比赛规则如下：
共有13个名额，其中10个小组的第一名直接晋级，剩余的12支球队通过附加赛争夺最后3个名额。
附加赛分为3组，每组4队，通过单场淘汰赛决出最后3个名额。

卡塔尔作为东道主直接进入决赛圈，亚洲区有4.5个名额。
